Cathy has been singing Alto with The Contemporary Chorale since 2019, though she admits she thought about joining for years before finally taking the leap. (Better late than never, right?)
Musical Background
Music has always been part of Cathy’s life. She grew up singing in choirs, performed in a few musicals in high school and college, and even sang barbershop with the Rich-Tones for 10 years. Later, she rocked out with her band Phat Chants for two decades—until, as she says, they got too old to lug the equipment around! Her favorite moments with the Chorale? Anytime she gets to sing and dance at the same time.
Fun Facts
Cathy was a majorette in high school and also played the bassoon.
She spent a year living in Madrid during college.
She once owned (and loved!) a motorcycle.
When She’s Not Singing…
You might find Cathy quilting, reading (she averages about 20 books a year!), watching “darker” TV shows, or playing Candy Crush. She’s also a fan of classic movies—her very favorite being Once, with Dirty Dancing as a close second.
Just for Fun
If she could perform with anyone, Cathy would love to harmonize with Crosby, Stills & Nash—or The Beatles. And on her bucket list? Spending more time living in Spain.
Cathy’s advice to new members: “When you think you can’t do it, just take a deep breath. It will fall into place, I promise!”
