The Contemporary Chorale Scholarship

Each year, the Chorale is proud to offer a $1000 scholarship to a deserving senior graduating from one of the four Richardson High Schools. The recipient is nominated by their choral director for their dedication and participation in their school’s choral program.The scholarship rotates through the schools in the following order: Richardson, Berkner, J.J. Pearce and Lake Highlands.

The scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding choir students and their contribution to their choir program. The student must be a graduating senior currently active in the choral program at his/her school.  Selection will be based on:

2018 Winner- Arrianna Hadjebian from J.J. Pierce HS Arianna completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Voice, along with a minor in Educational Psychology, from The University of Texas at Austin in 2023. Following her undergraduate studies, she continued her education at Colorado State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Music Therapy in May 2026. Arianna currently works at a private music therapy practice serving children and adults with disabilities throughout northern Colorado. She uses music-based experiences to support a variety of individualized goals, including communication, social-emotional development, cognitive skills, motor skills, and overall quality of life. Arianna is passionate about using music to foster connection, encourage growth, and help individuals build skills that will positively impact their everyday lives.
 

2017 Winner - Bethany Jelinek from Richardson High School graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University and is currently singing with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. 

 

2014 Winner - Leonardo Castro from Berkner High School graduated with a degree Music Education at Dallas Baptist University and is currently a middle school choral director in Allen, TX. 

 

2012 Winner -  Katherine Cotten Conkovich from JJ Pearce High School graduated with a degree in Music Education from Abilene Christian University and is currently the choral director at Coppell ISD’s Ninth Grade Center. 

 

2011 Winner - Rachel Jones from Lake Highlands High School graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University and is currently in the music staff at Church of the Incarnation, as well as a professional singer in Dallas.
