Dan has been signing with The Contemporary Chorale for 16 wonderful years.
What first inspired you to join The Contemporary Chorale?
Well, the Chorale started out as an all-women’s group, and one year they invited some of us husbands to sing in one of their shows. We must’ve made quite the impression because the guys were such a big hit that the group decided to become a mixed chorus for good! The rest is history.
Do you have a favorite song or performance?
Singing the solo for “Dos Oruguitas” has definitely been one of my favorite moments on stage.
Have you performed with other groups before?
I sure have! I started singing in church as a kid, directed my Bible college choir for a year, and even sang with the Chase Employee Choir during the holidays while working in Houston. I’ve directed two church choirs, spent a summer singing in a traveling gospel quartet in college, and these days you can also find me singing with the barbershop chorus The Legacy of Harmony.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
When I was 15, I told myself that a certain 10-year-old named Sandra was going to grow up to be very pretty… turns out, I was right!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not singing?
I used to love golfing in my younger years, but now I’m happily enjoying the relaxed rhythm of retirement.
Favorite hobby, book, movie, or TV show?
I’m a fan of a good action flick or a drama series—give me something with some twists and I’m hooked!
If you could perform with any artist (past or present), who would it be?
No contest—Vocal Spectrum! They’re my favorite barbershop quartet, and it would be a blast to sing with them.
What’s one item on your bucket list?
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Greece, Italy, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Spain is next on my list—I’m ready for tapas and flamenco!
