Kori Allen has been part of The Contemporary Chorale since Fall 2019 and sings Alto. She was inspired to join TCC because of her love for singing in groups. After moving to DFW from Tyler, she wanted to find an ensemble where she could sing fun, engaging songs — and even dance while doing it!
Her favorite performance (so far) was Spring 2024, though she’s certain many more favorites are still to come. Before joining TCC, Kori performed with the Patriot Singers at UT Tyler and later with the Plano Civic Chorus here in DFW.
A fun fact: When Kori first joined choir in 6th grade, she thought that to sing “harmony,” you needed a special piece of equipment you put in your mouth! She even asked her teacher, “How much does harmony cost, and where’s the best place to buy it?” Her teacher nearly fell over laughing, but reassured her that harmony is free if you can learn to hear it. To Kori’s delight, she’s been harmonizing ever since!
When she’s not singing, Kori enjoys traveling, musical theater, and going to live concerts. Some of her personal favorites:
Hobby: Anything music-related
Movie: Miss Congeniality
TV Show: Friends
Dream Artists to Perform With: The Civil Wars, Sara Bareilles, Mumford & Sons
Bucket List Destination: Greece
Her advice to new members:
“Don’t get overwhelmed! You can do it. We’re all in this together — and most importantly, have fun!”
