Meet Larry Edens, one of our talented basses! Larry has been part of The Contemporary Chorale for a total of five years—and we’re so glad he came back to sing with us again.
Musical Journey
Larry’s path to the Chorale began in August 2018, when his wife, Vicki, spotted an audition opportunity on Facebook. He showed up, sang a few notes, and (lucky for us!) was welcomed into the group. His favorite performances include works by John Rutter such as All Bells in Paradise, Past Three A Clock, and What Sweeter Music—though he admits those songs weren’t his favorites while learning them!
Larry has a rich musical background, including high school choir, Richland College (where he performed Carmina Burana at the Meyerson under Jim Henderson), and several church choirs. He also had the privilege of performing The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins with First United Methodist Church in Coppell.
Fun & Unexpected
Did you know Larry was once part of a ballet company? He danced with America Dancing at Mountain View College! When he’s not singing, you’ll likely find him enjoying musicals, Disney classics, or tinkering in his wood shop (once he gets it finished). His favorite movie is Mr. Holland’s Opus, which feels like a fitting choice for someone so passionate about music.
Just for Fun
If he could perform with any artist, Larry would choose Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, Voctave, or Neil Diamond. On his bucket list? A trip to New York to see a Broadway show—or perhaps to Boston.
