Lyn has been a member of the chorale since 2004. She has sung Alto and even Soprano 2 when needed, but prefers Soprano 1… as long as Melanie keeps letting here sing it!
What inspired you to join The Contemporary Chorale?
I go to church with Melanie, and she invited me. I grew up singing—choir and voice lessons—and have sung in church choirs all my life.

Have you sung in other groups?
Yes! I sang with The Jim Henderson Garland Chorale, along with my son, Ken, before joining TCC.
Fun fact about you:
I’m a military brat and a preacher’s kid! I grew up in Kansas, Germany, Texas, California, and Arkansas. After marrying John, we lived in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington DC, and Turkey. We’ve lived here for 30 years—the longest I’ve ever lived in one place!
What do you enjoy outside of singing?
I volunteer with Passport for Paws pet rescue and help admin a Facebook seashell group.
Favorite hobbies or interests?
I love to read and craft when I have time (which hasn’t been often this past year).
Favorite vacation spot: Mexico!
If you could perform with any artist, past or present?
I’d go back in time to sing with my mom and dad and my brothers, Dan and Shawn.
One item on your bucket list?
I don’t really have a bucket list… well, maybe decluttering my house!
Do the best you can with the knowledge you have. Ask others if you need help. Don’t be discouraged—most of us are in the same boat, rowing like our lives depend on it! Practice, practice, practice… and most importantly, have fun and ALWAYS be kind.
