What inspired you to join?
Nicole spends her days using the logical side of her brain for work, so she was craving a creative outlet. Having always loved to sing, she had been searching for the right group for years. When she heard about chorale auditions in 2022, she signed up — bringing her daughter along for a little extra courage and support. As it turns out, she found exactly what she was looking for. “Who knew I’d find my people here? It’s been amazing. Singing is a wonderful stress reliever, and this group is something special.”
Favorite song or performance?
Nicole especially loved the Stage and Screen season, with “Masquerade” and selections from Sweeney Todd among her favorites.
Previous experience?
Performing has long been part of Nicole’s life. As a teenager, she performed in community theater in Germany, sang in high school choir, and continued with opera and vocal lessons in college. While she loves to “belt it out,” she’s also learned the art of blending beautifully within a choir.
Fun fact:
Nicole is a software engineer with a background in mathematics and computer science (her words: “NERD ALERT!”). She develops software for implantable medical devices that help people with epilepsy live more independently — work she finds incredibly meaningful. She’s also passionate about encouraging young women to pursue engineering, volunteering her time to speak at schools and events.
When she’s not singing…
Nicole stays busy with her two kids — a 17-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter — supporting their activities in school, basketball, and scouts.
Favorite hobbies:
She and her daughter love hiking, exploring, and camping together.
Dream performance partner?
Louis Armstrong. With her dad having been a professional trumpet player, performing alongside one of the greats would be especially meaningful.
Bucket list:
Travel to Greece and Japan… even though she’s not a fan of flying!
