When you hear the sopranos sing, chances are you are hearing Shirley Davis, who has been sharing her voice (and heart!) with The Contemporary Chorale for 17 wonderful years.
Shirley joined after a friend encouraged her to give it a try — and she says she’s never looked back. (We’re pretty glad she didn’t!)
When it comes to favorite performances, she says it’s hard to choose — but highlights include:
Speechless
Corner of the Sky
You Raise Me Up
Sunday Kind of Love
One Short Day
Before joining the Chorale, Shirley sang in her church choir while her children were young — proving that once a singer, always a singer!
Here’s a fun fact: Shirley was born in Scotland to a military family and attended over 10 schools before high school! She describes her overseas travels as “one long holiday.”
She is also an ordained minister and loves performing weddings — which feels perfectly fitting for someone who brings so much heart to everything she does.
When she’s not singing, Shirley enjoys:
Traveling
Shopping
Walking the dog
Binge-watching TV (no judgement here!)
Favorites include:
Little Women
Wicked (both of them!)
The Shawshank Redemption
Bridgerton
If she could perform with any artist, she’d choose Denise Lee — what a duet that would be!
Shirley would love to see a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. (Field trip, anyone? )
“The Chorale is so much fun. It can feel a little overwhelming at first, but stick with it. It’s serious fun — and you’ll meet people who will become lifelong friends.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
Thank you, Shirley, for 17 years of music, friendship, and beautiful soprano sparkle!
